Myra, the Little Mermaid (Free amigurumi doll pattern)




Myra is a quick and easy project that can be finished in two or three hours.


MATERIALS NEEDED

DK Yarn in flesh colour (light pink or peach), dark green, light green, brown and small amounts of black and red.
3.00 mm crochet hook.
Yarn needle.
Polyester stuffing.
A pair of 6 mm safety eyes.
A stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.



ABBREVIATIONS USED

ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
inc = increase
dec = decrease
st = stitch
sts = stitches
CC = change colour
BLO = in back loops only
FLO = in front loops only
FO = fasten off

This pattern uses American terminology.

Gauge is not important for this project.


HEAD (with flesh colour)

R1: sc x 6 in magic ring (6)
R2: inc x 6 (12)
R3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
R4-8: sc across (18)
R9: (sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Attach safety eyes between R6 and 7.
Stuff.
R10: dec x 6 (6)
Don't fasten off.


BODY

R11: (sc, inc) x 3 (9) (FLO)
R12: (sc x 2, inc) x 3 (12)
R13: (sc, inc) x 6 (18) CC to dark green.
R14: sc across (18) CC to light green.
R15: sc across (18)
R16: (sc x 7, dec) x 2 (16)
R17: (sc x 6, dec) x 2 (14)
R18: (sc x 5, dec) x 2 (12)
R19: sc across (12) CC to dark green.
R20: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
R21-25: sc across (18)
R26: (sc, dec) x 6 (12)
R27: sc across (12)
R28: (sc x 2, dec) x 3 (9)
R29: sc across (9)
Stuff body.
R30: (sc, dec) x 3 (6)
R31: sc across (6)
Finish stuffing.
Don't fasten off.

TAIL
R32: sc through both thicknesses. Ch 1, turn. (3)
R33: inc, sc, inc. Ch 1, turn. (5)
R34: sc in each. Ch 1, turn. (5)
R35: inc, sc x 3, inc. Ch 1, turn. (7)
R36: sc in each. Ch 1, turn. (7)
R37: sl st in the 1st st, *sc, dc, tr in next, tr, dc, sc in next, sl st in next, repeat once from *.
FO.

ARMS (2) (with flesh colour)
Ch 11
Hdc in 3rd chain from hook and in next 7, 3 hdc in last st, then working on the other side hdc in next 8 st, 2 hdc in last, sl st to first hdc.
FO leaving long tail for sewing.
Fold in two lengthwise and sew together. Sew arms to body.

HAIR (with brown)
R1: sc x 6 in magic ring
R2: inc x 6 (12)
R3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18)
R4-6: sc across (18)
R7: *Sl st in next st, ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook, inc in next 18, sc in last ch, sl st back into original st, sl st in next st, repeat from * 4 more times.
FO, leaving long tail for sewing.
Sew hair to head (using photo as guide).


FINISHING TOUCHES
Embroider eye brows and mouth using photo as guide.

  1. Lovely pattern; I just have one question: At row 32 it says "sc through both thicknesses. What exactly do you mean by that? I am not sure what to do..

    1. Thanks, Isabella. It means you flatten the circle and close it by doing one single crochet in each set of 4 loops (a bit like in this picture here, only yours is going to be smaller: http://engsidrun.spire.ee/blogs/media/blogs/a/tutorials/finish-flat/IMGP5911.JPG). Hope this makes sense :)
